Advocating for Older Adults on Capitol Hill

Last week, members of our leadership team had the incredible opportunity to join LeadingAge and LeadingAge North Carolina in Washington, D.C. for Lobby Day 2025—a powerful time to speak up for the well-being of older adults and those who care for them.

We’re proud to share that Jessie Bosshard, Executive Director of Givens Home First, stood alongside Kirsten Cone (Givens Estates) and Richard Foor (Givens Communities IT) to advocate on behalf of our mission and the people we serve.

Here’s what we stood up for:

  • Protecting Medicaid, which so many older adults rely on to remain healthy and at home

  • Preserving tax-exempt bonds, vital to building and maintaining affordable housing

  • Supporting pathways to citizenship, so we can ensure a strong, compassionate workforce for today and tomorrow

Our team met with representatives including Senator Thom Tillis and Congressman Chuck Edwards to voice the importance of these priorities—not just for our Givens residents, but for older adults across North Carolina.

We believe in aging with dignity, and that means building systems that make it possible for everyone to live safely and meaningfully at home.

Huge thanks to our friends at LeadingAge NC and all who joined this important effort, including Leslie Roseboro, a passionate advocate for affordable senior living.
