Last month, our team at Givens Home First had the pleasure of sharing a short, 10-minute presentation with residents at Givens Estates and Givens Highland Farms on a topic that may seem simple—but can truly make a meaningful difference: bidets.
While often associated with comfort, bidets offer benefits that go far beyond convenience. For many older adults, they can be a powerful tool in supporting health, dignity, and independence at home.
Why consider a bidet?
- Supports personal hygiene in a gentle, effective way
- May help reduce the risk of UTIs and skin irritation
- Promotes dignity and independence, especially for those with limited mobility
- Environmentally friendly, using less water than traditional toilet paper production
One of our favorite takeaways from the conversation:
“If you get mud on your hands, you wouldn’t use paper to clean it—you’d use water.”
It’s a simple perspective shift that resonates with many people once they consider it.
