We are thrilled to share that Cindy McCurry, one of our extraordinary Certified Nursing Assistants at Givens Home First, has been named the 2025 recipient of the Georgia Crump Certified Nursing Assistant Recognition Award from MemoryCare. Cindy was honored during a beautiful celebration on November 5th, surrounded by her family, colleagues, and community partners.
The Georgia Crump Award, established by MemoryCare in 2003, recognizes nursing assistants who demonstrate exceptional compassion, dedication, and excellence in caring for older adults — values that define Cindy’s work each and every day.
From the moment Cindy joined our Home Care team in January 2023, her warmth, passion, and purpose have shone brightly. Following in her mother’s footsteps, who also dedicated decades to Givens Communities, Cindy brings heart and humanity to every client and colleague she meets.
A few reasons Cindy stands out:
- She finds dignity in every moment. When a client living with cognitive changes refused to brush his teeth, Cindy turned frustration into connection by saying, “I’ve never seen a toothbrush like this — can you show me how to use it?” He smiled and happily demonstrated. A small act, but a perfect example of her creativity, patience, and respect.
-
She leads with heart and experience. As one of only two CNA Cultivators at Givens Home First, Cindy mentors new caregivers through their first weeks — sharing not just skills, but confidence. Her approach is hands-on, encouraging others to see caregiving as both an art and a calling.
- She brings joy to daily life. Cindy is part of a small team that helps a client living with Alzheimer’s hike four miles every day — rain or shine. She keeps the mood light, tells stories, and celebrates small victories, helping him stay active in ways that honor his passions.
-
She inspires care for caregivers. This spring, Cindy co-launched our “Spring Into Self-Care” initiative, encouraging caregivers to find moments of rest, joy, and renewal. She reminds us that caring for others begins with caring for ourselves.
Cindy’s influence extends far beyond her clients. Her peers consistently name her in surveys as one of the reasons “Givens is such a special place.” Her mentorship and optimism remind us that caregiving is not just a profession — it’s a calling grounded in heart, skill, and humanity.
Please join us in celebrating Cindy McCurry, whose light continues to inspire all of us at Givens Home First. Cindy, thank you for reminding us to “keep reaching for the stars.”
