Tips to Prevent Falls

Falls are not a normal part of aging, but rather a signal that change is underway. Here are some ways to prevent falls: 

Move: Thai Chi, dancing, hiking, yoga and using the Jordan Center are all great exercises that strengthen muscles to help with balance and flexibility. 

Seek Guidance: Your doctor understands risks and can make referrals for strengthening and balance. Your PCP/Pharmacist can also provide guidance. 

Get Examined: Annual eye and ear exams. Hearing and vision loss are subtle and may not be noticed. 

Assess Safety: Use bright lighting and keep your walkways clear. Connect with an Aging in Place Specialist.
