Building Resilience Together

Earlier this year, Givens Home First was honored to host a Learn First seminar with Resources for Resilience® (RFR) — a local nonprofit dedicated to helping people build resilience and respond to stress in healthy ways. The session gave our residents, caregivers, and team members practical tools to manage stress and strengthen connections, and we’re excited to share more about this important community partner.

Who They Are

  • Founded in 2017, RFR was created in response to the public health crisis of childhood adversity and toxic stress.

  • They’ve developed hands-on, trauma-informed programs that are simple, practical, and accessible to people of all ages and backgrounds.

  • While based in Asheville, RFR serves communities across Western North Carolina and the U.S.

Why It Matters for Older Adults
Stress and isolation affect people of all ages — but older adults and caregivers often feel these challenges more deeply. RFR’s tools can help older adults strengthen resilience, manage chronic stress, and foster meaningful connections, making daily life feel more balanced and supported.

Current Work
RFR is actively partnering with organizations like Vaya Health to bring resilience tools to communities most impacted by stress and trauma, and their work continues to expand across the region.
