In 1992, Givens Estates received a heartfelt gift of $10,000 from Louise Sales, the niece of resident Ruth Parkins. This generous donation marked the beginning of our Home Care Program, offering assistance with daily living activities to residents who didn’t require skilled nursing. For over 30 years, this program has enabled hundreds of residents to remain in the comfort of their homes while receiving the support they need, all at a more affordable cost than skilled nursing care.

In 2012, Givens Communities expanded with the addition of Givens Highland Farms, another Life Plan Community located in Black Mountain, NC. This expansion allowed for the sharing of knowledge and resources between campuses, setting the stage for the eventual launch of Givens Home First.

In October 2022, Jessie Bosshard rejoined Givens Communities to build the organization’s Home and Community Based Services. On August 1st, 2023, a significant milestone was reached when the Givens Highland Farms and Givens Estates Home Care agencies were combined into a single program under the new Givens Home First brand. This Home and Community Based Services program was thoughtfully developed in response to external consultation, resident surveys, and extensive research into the two Life Plan Communities.

Currently, Givens Home First Home Care program serves residents of Givens Estates and Givens Highland Farms, with plans to expand beyond the walls of its Life Plan Communities soon. The Givens Home First Aging in Place program is available to those living within a 90-minute drive time from our home office located at Givens Estates off Sweeten Creek Road.
