A big thank you to the 189 residents who attended our Learn First seminar series on Dementia across our two campuses! Your participation, questions, and active engagement were truly inspiring. Special thanks to our community vendors: SOS Dental, McIntyre Elder Law, Jewels Bodywork, Givens Home First’s Aging in Place and Home Care programs, and Northlake Eye!
Steps to help you learn and feel empowered:
- Dementia Friends: Invite me to your cluster gathering, living room, patio get-together, or meal setting for a 60-minute informational session. This session covers what dementia is in plain language and provides supportive information for caregivers and friends. Participants will receive a workbook, a lapel pin, and a call to action to take their first step as a Dementia Friend USA.
- Givens Estates Caregiver Support Group: Join this resident-led group every 4th Monday of the month at 3:00 PM in the Pullium Chapel on the Estates campus. Share experiences and support each other in small groups.
- Home Care: Don’t go it alone. Many caregivers struggle to recognize burnout. Building a team can help you go the distance for your loved one. Home Care offers short (30-minute) visits to assist residents with activities such as walks, games, reading, music, and attending on-campus events.
